Squiqr Codes™
What does QR stand for?

The acronym QR is short for “Quick Response” and is the last two letters of our company name, Squiqr™!

*The name “QR code” is a registered trademark of Denso Wave Inc.

What is a Squiqr code™?

A Squiqr Code™ is a two-dimensional coded symbol that we create for you when you fill out our Squiqr Code Contact Creator form. When this coded data that looks like a bunch of random dots and squares is read through someone else’s camera app, it takes your contact details that you provide on our form and places it directly into the person’s Contacts list!

How does it work?

When the Squiqr code™ gets scanned, a software program prepares the captured image data and processes the coded data.

Using and Scanning Squiqr codes™

Do I need to download an app to use and scan a Squiqr code™?

iPhone users: If your iPhone is updated to iOS11, then you’re all good! Apple has built QR Code recognition directly into its camera app, which means all you need to do is open up your camera and simply point it at the Squiqr code, then bam! And no, you don’t even have to press the camera’s shutter button.

Android users: If you have a Pixel phone by Google, then you don’t need to download a third party app. The option to scan a QR code is built-in directly into the default camera app. All you have to do is switch to Lens mode and point the camera at the Squiqr code you want to scan.

If you’re using Google Assistant, then you’re already set up with Lens, which can be found on the lower right corner of your phone’s screen. Simply, open up your camera and point it at the Squiqr code, then bam! You’ll see a notification quickly pop up, tap that thing and save! If it’s not there, you can download the Google Lens app directly from the Play Store. It’s one of the best QR readers for Android and has some other cool functions such as identifying plants and animals or giving you information about nearby landmarks with AR overlays.

On Samsung smartphones, the Bixby Vision app can also be used as a QR code reader.

How do I read / scan someone else’s Squiqr code™?

Simply open up your camera, then look for a square focus frame to appear. Aim to place the Squiqr code within the focus frame, then bam! Click on the notification that pops up or down (depending on your phone) and be sure to click ‘Save’ to save the pre-loaded contact information directly into your Contacts list.

How would I know if my smartphone can capture someone’s Squiqr code™?

Try it out yourself by visiting our How Squiqr works page here.

Do I need internet access to use and/or scan someone’s Squiqr code™?

No, you don’t! We ensure that all your contact information that you provide us is encoded into each Squiqr code itself making Squiqr cards perfect for enabling others a smooth’r, quiq’r, typo-free import of your personal contact details, even when you don’t have internet connection.

Troubleshooting - scanning your Squiqr code™

What if my phone can't read a Squiqr code™?

First, troubleshoot by trying to scan the Squiqr code again because sometimes it may just be a matter of closing the camera app, then re-opening it. So, try that first! Once you do re-open the camera app, look for the focus frame (square box) to appear in the middle of your phone. Be sure to point the focus frame directly at the Squiqr code as it works best to focus the code inside the focus frame. If you don’t see a notification pop up within a couple seconds, try focusing/refocusing by moving your phone closer to and further away from the Squiqr code that you’re trying to focus on. Be sure to tap “Save” to save your new contact directly into your Contacts list.

If it still doesn’t work, your phone may not be updated to its latest software and/or you may need to download a third-party app that has the capabilities of scanning QR codes.

Some people are having a hard time scanning my Squiqr code™. What should I do?

Try to make sure that you’re holding your phone steady and still when someone is attempting to scan your Squiqr code. If you’re moving your phone around while someone is trying to scan it, it may be that the reader is not able to read and translate the encoded data properly.

The notification doesn't pop up sometimes when my Squiqr code™is scanned? Why is that?

As stated above, be sure that you’re holding your camera nice and still. It could also be that there is a reflection on your phone from the lighting. Check your surroundings and minimize glare and reflection while having someone scan your Squiqr code.

Why are text messages being sent to my email from people who have scanned my Squiqr code™ (iPhone)

You may have recently updated your iPhone software leading to changes in the iMessages.

Follow these steps to fix:

  • Go to Settings > Messages
  • Turn off iMessage
  • Go to Settings > Cellular
  • Turn off Cellular Data
  • Reboot phone
  • Turn Cellular Data and iMessage back on
  • Go to Settings > Messages > Send and Receive
  • Under “Start new conversations from”, tick your phone number

Receiving your Squiqr card

How will I receive my personalized Squiqr card?

You will receive your personalized Squiqr card via text/pic message. Be sure to save it once you receive it. See FAQ below to learn the best way to access your Squiqr when you need it to make that new connection!

When will I receive my Squiqr card?

You’ll receive your personalized Squiqr card (free version) via text/pic message within 48 hours of filling out our Squiqr Code Contact Creator form.

What is the best way to access my Squiqr card when I need to whip it out and share my contact info?

We recommend ‘adding a new album’ under your Photos app. Name the album something along the lines of ‘Squiqr card’ or ‘Biz card’ (or whatever you choose) then add your Squiqr card image to that new album. You’ll find it much easier and quiq’r to get to when you need it in a flash!

Will my personalized Squiqr code ever expire or become invalid?

No, technically your Squiqr code can never expire nor become invalid. When we create your personalized Squiqr code, the information that you provide us (name, title, phone number, email address, etc.) are stored as data into the graphic forever.

How long will it take for my Squiqr Biz Pro card to be made?

Someone on our team will be communicating with you directly to get your Squiqr Biz Pro card completed as quickly as possible. Generally, it will take up to a few days to get it completed, depending on any special requirements, revisions or requests.

How can I share Squiqr with my friends and colleagues?

Thanks for asking! You can always send them to squiqr.com where they can get their very own free, personalized Squiqr code. Also, keep an eye out for our emails! We offer a referral program where awesome people like you get rewards like discounts, prizes and chances to be among the first to try out our new, upcoming features.

Safety and Security

Is it safe to scan a Squiqr code™?

Yes, it is. The data that gets encoded into the Squiqr code contains only the contact details you fill out in our forms such as your name, phone number and email address. The Squiqr code is used solely for the purpose of allowing you to share your contact information with only the people you choose to share it with.

Can Squiqr codes™ (and/or QR codes) contain viruses?

No, they cannot. Squiqr codes (QR codes) cannot contain viruses. A virus must be a part of an executable – meaning that it would hide in part of an app that runs on your mobile device. QR codes have no executable data encoded in it, and even if they contained machines instructions for some devices – no QR code reader is capable of executing them. QR code readers are made to scan and translate the data, just like how barcode readers do with barcodes. So essentially, there is nothing for QR code readers to execute.

Is Squiqr an app that's vulnerable to obtaining a virus?

Squiqr codes are neither an app nor executables, so scanning them are completely safe. The only way that they would be harmful is if we encoded the Squiqr code to point you to a URL that will suggest you to download an app, and that if you choose to download it – you may (only on certain platforms) download a malware. Obviously, we wouldn’t do that. That would be bad for business, not to mention, a horrible thing to do!

Squiqr Privacy

Is there any data that gets collected each time my Squiqr code™ gets scanned?

No, your Squiqr code is generated and delivered without any kind of tracking or “sniffing” mechanism. We can never capture any data of any users scanning your Squiqr code. They only contain the precise data you choose to enter on our Squiqr code Contact Creator Form™ (S3CF). We will also never create or store hidden redirects. You will see the exact data that is stored each time your Squiqr code gets scanned.

Is the data stored in my Squiqr code™ secure?

Yes, the data stored in each Squiqr code is securely submitted (encrypted with SSL/TLS) to a secure API (application programming interface). There is no further communication with any servers when a Squiqr code is scanned.

Does Squiqr track, analyze or measure all of my scans that have been made?

No, we do not collect or track any kind of data when your Squiqr code is scanned.

Refunds / Cancellation Policy

Can I get a refund after I receive my Squiqr Biz PRO card?

Sorry, we cannot offer a refund once we complete and send you your customized Squiqr Biz PRO card to you. Therefore, it’s important to make sure that we’re provided with the correct information including proper spelling and accurate phone numbers while filling out the Squiqr Biz Pro Contact Creator form. Because the Squiqr code will have already been created and is something that would be un-returnable, we are not able to offer refunds. However, if you’re unhappy for any particular reason, we will be happy to see what we can do to help satisfy your request or needs.

What if I need to change or update one or more of my personal contact details after ordering my Squiqr Biz Pro card?

Because each Squiqr code is truly unique to its stored data, you’ll need to have a new Squiqr code made with your updated contact details. If your contact details need to be updated within 6 months of ordering your Squiqr Biz Pro card, we won’t charge anything to have it updated. However, if it needs to be changed after 6 months of having one made, we will need to charge a nominal Squiqr code update fee. We can only provide one free Squiqr code update within the 6 month time period. This free Squiqr code update within the 6 month time frame only applies to our paid services.

Will I need to have a new Squiqr card made if I change any of my contact information?

If you need to change your contact info within 6 months of ordering your customized Squiqr Biz Pro card, we’ll update your Squiqr code for free. You will not need a new Squiqr card unless you choose to order a completely different style or design. If your order was placed greater than 6 months of wanting to change your info, a new order will need to be placed.

What if I want to cancel my Squiqr Biz Pro order?

Our team gets super excited when someone chooses to make the switch from paper cards to Squiqr cards and we work as quickly as possible to process your order, save trees and decrease paper waste!

Therefore, we can offer a 24 hour cancellation period once you place your order. Please contact us by clicking here –> [email protected]
