Twitch is a live streaming video platform owned by Amazon. It is a platform for people who want to share their live videos with their audience. At first, it primarily focused on video game streamers. However, there’s also a large community of “In Real Life” streams. For example, artists, musicians, travellers and many other types of people share their talent by live streaming their particular activity while communicating with audiences in real-time.
Twitch has become a big hit around the world and you’ll find countless creators streaming on Twitch at any given time of day. Regarding statistics in 2018, it had 2.2 million broadcasters monthly and 15 million daily active users.
A new collection was launched on the same day of TwitchCon 2019, which took place in San Diego, CA. The global live streaming community is growing and we see Twitch as one of the best streaming platforms to build a personal brand.
Squiqr helps streamers by making sure that their contact info including their personalized link to their Twitch stream gets automatically stored into their Contacts list. Anyone can choose a squiqr style that offers different colorful designs to best match their personal brand.
Bits are virtual good or “coins” people can use to cheer and show support for other streamers they like. The concept of Squiqr is to first, meet people, then share your contact information and bring people you meet into your community (this can be your live stream, URL, Discord or other social media link). And the concept of knowing more people and bringing people in is your goal. If your goal is to have people come hang out and watch you or to support you by sending you some “bits,” you can start by using “Squiqr”
From our first announcement, we aim to replace paper business cards with digital business card in order to make a positive social and environmental impact. We’ve come up with an alternative solution to wasting paper while saving trees. Since everyone has a smartphone, we’ve developed a smoother, smarter, and greener way of sharing contact information minus the excess greenhouse gas emissions. By minimizing, and perhaps, eliminating the use of paper business cards, we can create a major impact on our environment. It will reduce carbon emissions related to deforestation and decrease methane emissions related to paper waste. A staggering statistic showing that ten billion business cards are printed each year is one good reason to make the eco-conscious switch to Squiqr.
We believe that building a personal brand should reveal one’s true and authentic self. Live streaming raw video will expose someone’s true personality. This is why we think video streaming is something people should consider while they work to build their personal brand. And it’s also the reason why we have created “Squiqr Style - Twitch Design”

Before you think we’re just another app that scans paper business cards and files them away in some sort of a digital rolodex, think again. Squiqr Pro is more than just a paperless business card. It is super slick and specifically made for savvy networkers who wish to secure their contact information into their prospect's phone while contributing to the well-being of people and our planet. We're a purposeful social enterprise on a mission to make our planet a cleaner, greener, healthier place for all to live and thrive.
Okay yeah, scanning is involved, but Squiqr is way different. As our tagline puts it in a nutshell, it’s smooth’r, smart’r, quiq’r. Squiqr.
The ‘qr’ at the end of our company brand name, Squiqr, may have given you a hint that a QR code is involved. However, paper is not! As many of you know from your own personal experience, 88% of business cards are thrown out within a week of being exchanged. Multiply that times millions of business professionals and all sorts of other networkers, vendors and trained monkeys and all of sudden you end up with over 27 million business cards printed daily that go straight into the trash. Do even more math and you end up with about 10 billion business cards (yes, with a B) printed every year in the US alone.
Guess where most of that ends up? Yup, in landfills where it decomposes and emits methane (CH4), a potent greenhouse gas (GHG) that happens to be a major contributor to global warming. Methane is 28 to 36 times more effective than CO2 at trapping heat in the atmosphere over a 100-year period, per the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) assessment report (AR5).
We’re not out to get rid of all paper business cards once and for all. We’re simply offering a paperless alternative that’s not only a more cost efficient way of networking, but a less wasteful and more purposeful one too. An average, fairly active business professional who attends networking events throughout the year may hand out up to about 500-1000 business cards per year. This equates to using about 100 sheets of paper and 300 gallons of water per year for paper production.
When you stop and think of said fun facts and contemplate the number of trees that were harmed in the making of certain paper business cards, the chemicals that are typically used in the process of making them, and the amount of water that could be used for something more important, you can't help but realize that you have the choice to make a small, yet hugely impactful difference in the lives of others. For example, if one considers less fortunate children around the world who lack access to fresh water, one may rethink one’s choice of the way one could do business. Perhaps?
The long-standing tradition, sense of royalty and professionalism that’s associated with the exchanging of business cards is not to be disregarded or disrespected. After all, the first concept of such “visiting cards” used by prominent, wealthy businessmen dates back to 15th Century China, a place where the modern day paper business card maintains its high regard as an extension of an individual who shall be treated with honor and respect.
Fast forward to 2019, throughout the world and throughout every industry, the business card is still an integral part of doing business. The act of exchanging it with another business professional, then going home and placing them into a pile, then throwing it out within a week. Networking, it’s a key aspect of doing business.
Times have changed, our population has grown, people are suffering and our resources are thinning out. And when 15 billion trees are cut down every year and climate action is necessary now more than ever before, can it be a good time to make an impactful decision to go with paperless business cards?
At Squiqr, we appreciate the importance and value of a company’s own branding including one’s logo, color scheme and font type. With Squiqr Pro, a traditional paper business card is converted into a form of a digital business card. And when one changes jobs, gets a promotion, or changes their information, we simply update their Squiqr code. No need to reprint cards and no need to toss out unused ones either. It can save time, money and potentially, our planet’s existence.

If we talk about 10 years ago when businessmen or businesswomen give and receive one’s business card, it gives us a feeling of formality and professionalism. After they receive a business card from someone, they will keep it in a place called a cardholder. Any time when people think of someone or when they want to contact that person they will open that card holder. But times have changed…
Today people use a smartphone to connect with each other. People change their behavior. When adding a contact in our phone and interacting with friends, family or business prospects, we do all of that with our smartphone. But people still do give a business card after meeting someone or while at a networking event. The question is why? Because after people receive a paper business card, most of us add the contact from a paper business card into their phone and throw away paper cards in the end. The purpose of a business card today is just to be in the middle of two devices for a very short period of time.
Ten billion business card are printed each year. And eight billion of those will be thrown away within a week. Moreover, our planet loses 15 billion trees a year. Yes “a year”. Because we know that cutting down trees is one major cause of climate change.
Squiqr is a new revolution of the business card. We eliminate “the middle man called the business card”. Squiqr gives users a convenient way to share their contact info from their phone to someone else’s phone without losing the look and feel of a professional touch. Your contact information will show up on a scanned smartphone in a very personal way and Squiqr digital business card keeps your privacy as much as you give someone your business card in person.
Squiqr is founded by Mark Suarkeo & Tun Karnjanakul. They each come from different backgrounds and share their passion for protecting our environment and living a sustainable lifestyle. Our team works remotely. We create and design how we work under our 3P Pyramid Model all of those bring us together a sustainable lifestyle and tech-startup. And it turns out > Squiqr.
